You beat me to it Scott.

Well done guys, way to win. Excellent consistency, pace, and strategy.
Great meeting you too Hans.

Congrats NAFTA. Mike Smith!! Way to go hard mate..

Hats off to Endurance karting, to come back from nowhere. That last battle with Dan Burke.. LOL.. looks over his shoulder sees me closing in and goes.. 'uh oh?? I suppose I should actually try...' and goes from being .300 slower to .100 faster and runs away. lol.. I was like.. 'wtf??? how are you doing that???'.

Looking forward to more good laughs off track and battles on track in future.

Having spent most of the day sleeping and generally noticing I am much more beat up than I thought, I have a few thoughts.

- I have never run in a more professional and well thought out indoor kart race in my life. Not to say the others are bad, (some are) but this event was a notch higher than top notch. All the employees went out of their way to make the competitors happy and also to get to know us. This alone will get me back next year.

- For some reason 24 hours seemed shorter than 12 hours, maybe just because the race had less of a go all out right now, feel to it. Still weird to me.

- Some of the locals said it was not normal to have this many kart failures, from my side it was a very pleasant few.

- Stacked, NAFTA, and Endurance Karting are incredible, not to take away from the others who are very good, but these 3 teams were pure awesome, to even be competitive with them was a treat.

And finally, to be with the team I was on was so awesome. Not only were we fast but we had a blast. I can all but guarantee no one had a better time than us.

Tony Stevens- You put together an awesome team, thanks for looking to me for a last minute driver. I was humbled to be in such elite company. I will be back for the 600 another year, we will have some fun then. haha

Tony Hana- You are pure and simple a racing genius, your ability to read a kart, track, and competitor is amazing. See you at the OIKC hopefully.

Scott Gaarde- For only being in indoor karting for a relatively short time, you are outstanding. Great speed, great technique. Be proud to team with you any time.

Adam Kellerman- What can I say, you elevated this team to another level, I think you made up 9 laps during the race. Unbelievable. You are my pick for this years USIKC.

Jeff Saiani- As all the others on our team, I was extremely impressed. Good reason you stood on podium at the USIKC, I have no doubt you will be there again this year. Hope to see you at the 12 hours of dromo next year.

To everyone else, all of you guys were awesome, I met so many cool guys and girls I cant possibly serve notice to them all. Can't wait to race you all again.

Congrats Stacked, you guys earned this one.

And this.

I took some pictures, but not very many of them came out well. I thought I'd share nonetheless. Click here for an index of the pictures or here to get them all in one big zip file. Granted, a fair number of the pictures are of my team (1-800-WE-INSURE) but I did get a couple pictures of the start of the race and various people driving.

I had a great time, and I'm already looking forward to next year's event. I suppose I'll need a lighter helmet though... I think my neck will be hurting well into next week.

Impact makes some kickass carbon fiber helmets... granted, they retail for a lot of money, but they're SUPER SUPER light. You can order them through us here at work if you like....and we do ship nationwide! LOL.

My turn, this race was an absolute blast if any of you out there did not race in this one and want to compete in a major race I suggest this one. From the facilities to the employees all top notch!

To all of the employees, I could not have expected a better bunch of guys and girls. Everyone there was extremely nice and helpful. Flagging was outstanding you guys working the track during the race WOW super job and it was noticed by everyone there I gaurantee it! Super job! To the guys working the pits simply outstanding! You guys kept the karts fueled and pit times annotated excellent. Finally Fred, thanks for putting this event on, absolutely the best ran event of my indoor karting career. All you guys and gals get a giant thank you from me!

Now to the top three teams Team Stacked, Team NAFTA and Team Endurance Karting, absolute pleasure to race against you guys that was the best and cleanest racing I have seen to date. Thanks for the memories. I just wish we were all a little more close together at the end for a shoot out. Maybe next time. Super job to all of you. Each and everyone on those teams deserve to be on the podium.

To my team MC2

Wow from planning on not going to getting a call to be on the team about 2 weeks before it was time to go. What a blast I had. All of you drove superb and it was a pleasure getting to see and race with each of you again and meeting you Tony. Tony thanks for letting us crash at your place. Although I'm not sure if I had more fun in the race or at the airport waiting to come home. LOL Tony my stomach hurts worse than any other part of me from laughing so damn hard. It was an absolute pleasure to race with you guys and would love the opportunity to do it again sometime. Sorry I did not post the super fast laps that Speedy (Adam) did but hopefully you guys appreciate the effort I put in. I know I appeciate the efforts of all of you. I would like to congatulate each of you Kellerman, Hana, Gaarde, Britain and Stevens on a hard fought battle throughout the 24hrs maybe next time we can stand on that top step of the podium. See you at the USIKC and give me a call for Dromo or whatever race you guys need a team mate at.

Wow...that's the kind of feedback I love to hear from a major event like the '24'. It's awesome to see the different corners of the country starting to come together, both on the track and here on IKN. It motivates me to keep pushing on this project! Wink

It sounds like the big hitters stepped up to made themselves known and a ton more cross-country respect was developed. That will be a great deal to the future of the sport at this level.

That said, we've started the USIKC driver thread, so if you're planning to attend this year's national championship shootout, please hop over there and state your intent so that I can get you on the list. We're aiming for 80 of the best this country has to offer.

I look forward to meeting you all there.

I feel like all our hard work has paid off after reading all the great things you guys have had to say about the 24.

I am going to start saving my money and try to make my way to the USIKC this year... I would love to race with everyone again.

The IKRL race in Kansas City will be just as fantastic! Looking forward to racing the Dromo 12, and the 24 hours of Charlotte next year. Mr. Stevens, I reckon I'm going to be pestering ya to drive for MC2. Wish I didn't miss out, but I met Scott Goodyear, so that was worth more than I can say.

So Rob with this kind of feedback can we hope to see you make it out this way for some of the bigger events? As far as the 24 goes I don't think that I can say anything more than what has been said already. Great job by all the VLK guys I think a few of us owe you a beer or two for all the hard work that you have done, the event ran great and I am happy that I live so close to such a great facility. Also to everyone else I had a great time running with you all the competition was fantastic and I feel that running with such a deep field of tanlented drivers helped me to raise my driving to a higher level. I look foward to racing with all of you again in the future. Last but not least congrats to Mike, Hans, Robbie, DJ, and Joe for their victory you guys deserved it.

Thank you everyone for participating in our 24 Hour Race. I agree that I have a great staff. Thank you all for the kind words.
We will make sure to travel to other facilities to help their events grow as you have helped ours.
Great to get to know you all. I cant wait for the next event, one I can compete in!

Michael,

I certainly wished that I could have attended this year's 24, but I just couldn't do it with the current economy of the website. We will continue to support of all our tracks from IKN headquarters, and will also hope to attend more events in 2010 once the recession clears. This year, our only travel event will be the USIKC in November.
